International presence at H.IAAC: lecture with Aline Carneiro Viana

04 Aug 2025

On July 30, 2025, H.IAAC had the honor of receiving the renowned international researcher Aline Carneiro Viana, Head of the TRiBE research group and senior researcher at INRIA (France), for the lecture “The Poetry of Digital Presence: Human Beauty and Vulnerability in Networking Habits”, held at the Auditorium of the Institute of Computing – UNICAMP.

In her presentation, Aline offered a perspective on digital presence, exploring how our mobility habits—shaped by routine, curiosity, spontaneity, and constraints—directly impact how network resources are allocated and how services can serve us more fairly and personalizedly.

The talk invited participants to reflect on questions such as: what makes our movement patterns predictable (or not)? How do our uncertainties affect the ability of networks to serve us well? And why should communication systems evolve to embrace this behavioral nuance?

By analyzing human mobility as a signal of intention, need, and identity, Aline advocates for a more conscious approach to networks, capable of anticipating demands even when users defy expectations. A technical and poetic proposal: seeing beauty and meaning in the way we move—and building networks that move with us.

After the lecture, Aline remained available to talk with H.IAAC students and researchers, promoting a valuable environment for exchange.
